Alchemy Lounge: Huntsville’s Best Coffee (and great little lights)

by | Mar 21, 2017

A couple of weeks ago while traveling to visit with friends who used to be from Texas, I had a revelation: Huntsville has great coffee. Everywhere I went, fantastic coffee and tea, as well.

At the top of the coffee chain was Alchemy Lounge – a fantastic medium sized coffee shop built into a converted warehouse/factory that has a great wall of windows and perfectly pulled espresso shots.

My revelation was a drink originally created at Blue Bottle Coffee called the  The Gibraltar.

Brewed into a 4-ounce Libbey Gibraltar glass, this drink combines espresso and 2 ounces of rich steamed milk.  Served with an orange blossom water accented, alkalinized water, palate cleanser, it was a little bit of heaven.

Surely there will be great coffee and pour-over brewers in Heaven.

Equally interesting, I happened to notice that the Alchemy Lounge has learned the magic of combining small containers with battery lights and moss. You can see our current favorite way to hide the battery box here.

Materials needed to recreate this project at home:

  • Easy-to-find square candle holder – check hobby and dollar stores
  • Set of battery fairy lights
  • Moss – found also at the hobby shop but much cheaper at the dollar store
