DIY: Decorating a Fall Mantle

DIY: Decorating a Fall Mantle

As we transition (in most of the US) from Summer to Fall, it's a great time to highlight your mantle with Autumn decor before you head into full-on Christmas.

Quick and easy, most of the materials in this project can be found in both backyards and big box hobby stores.

Keep in mind that as great as these ideas work on a mantle, they are also well suited for an entry table, shelf, sideboard or with battery lights, for tablescapes.

Materials

  • burlap wreath - available at a big box hobby store
  • Autumn leaf wreath
  • a favorite string of white lights on green wire (brown wire would also work well in this application)
  • mini hay bales
  • pumpkins - real and inspired by nature
  • fall bouquet
  • vase or container

Instructions

Layer the burlap wreath. We like the look of a formal burlap wreath because it made this installation quick and easy but a length (or several lengths) of burlap would make a great base for this project.

Add the lights.

Layer on the "leaf garland".

Tuck in hay bales, pumpkins and gourds.

Add a vase with higher picks or a fall bouquet

If you have any lit containers like this project, add those as well.

Let us know how you decorate your mantle for Thanksgiving!!
