Fun Pumpkin Luminaries!

How do I light up a pumpkin? Pumpkin Luminaries!

Perfect for Halloween!  Use C7 or C9 bulbs, a C7 or C9 cord and a few inexpensive plastic jack-o-lanterns to create a fun project your local trick or treaters will enjoy.

Supplies needed for this project:

  • C7 or C9 bulbs (sold in cases of 25) – note C7 bulbs have E12 bases (the same as a night light) and C9 bulbs have a slightly larger E17 base. You’ll need a slightly larger drill bit than the 3/8″ shown in the video
  • A Cord – just choose the right size for your bulbs. The cord shown in the video is 25 feet long.
  • Inexpensive and easy to find jack-o-lantern candy buckets
  • An easy to handle cordless screwdriver or cordless drill with a 3/8″ bit to install C7 bulbs.

Find the bulbs and cords here:  https://www.christmas-light-source.com/christmas-bulbs-cords

Instructions (see video above for visuals)

Just drill through the back of the lanterns and install the light bulb through the hole into the socket.  You can choose to leave the rest of the sockets empty or fill them with extra bulbs. If you leave the sockets open, you can use socket covers to keep dirt out of the sockets. If this project will be exposed to rain, be sure to drill a couple of holes in the bottom of your pumpkins and of course, plug this project into a GFCI outlet.

See the video above for a quick visual.  (It’s just 48 seconds long!)

Comparing the Colors in Bubblegum Light Strings

We love these "bubble gum" light strings. Also known as G12 LED (infinitely less descriptive), we love these lights because their lenses are as beautiful lit as they are unlit. These are three of our favorite colors. Classic green and blue flanking teal, the newcomer...
