What should I use to outline the border of my yard and trees?

We just fielded this question from Ron:

Hello  –  I’m looking to purchase chrismas led lights for my yard and trees. . . The lights for the yard would be on the border of my grass and outline the yard .    I would need stakes and need a recommendation of which stakes to purchase.  I was looking at the mini led lights but wonder how they would look outlining the landscape when previously I used traditional C9s.  Should I just replace the C9s with led C9s?  Thanks

Ron

Hi Ron,

If you already have the C9 cords, you might really consider going with the retrofit C9 LED bulbs that would just install right into your existing cords.
Mini lights along the walkway would light it up but might look a little thin,  The larger bulb is the more usual and, in my opinion, a nicer way to go.
Here are the bulbs:
Since you’d be using C9 stringer wire, you could use any stake tailored for C7/C9 cords.  You can find them here:
If you are mixing traditional incandescent white lights and LED bulbs in your yard and want to go white with LED, be sure to go with Warm White.  It’s not the same but blends more nicely than the Pure White.
For your trees, you could continue with the C9 stringer wire and LED bulbs or you could pick up strings of LED Christmas lights in the same color and wrap your trees with that.
Here are those strings of lights.  The bulbs cannot be removed or replaced:
Also, keep in mind that even though the LED bulbs are ultra low current you can’t run your C9 cords more than 250 feet in a single run, even with LED bulbs installed due to the max line specification for 18 AWG wire.
Let me know if you have other questions.

Best regards,

Shellie Gardner
